THE HARVEST-TO-HANDOFF FIELDBOOK / Meet the bin

Measure the footprint. Then check the base.

The bin dimensions, pallet support and receiving space belong on the same drawing.

Record inside and outside dimensions

Give the supplier the required product space and ask for assembled external dimensions. Include units and height. An approximate pallet-size name is not a full container specification.

Show the support arrangement

Document the actual pallet or base, not just its nominal footprint. Ask the responsible supplier to assess support and handling compatibility. Keep any overhang or unsupported area visible in the drawing.

Check the receiving route

Confirm unloading equipment, staging space and access at the destination. Use the final assembled dimensions for that conversation. A design should be assessed against the handoff it will actually make.
