THE HARVEST-TO-HANDOFF FIELDBOOK / Follow the harvest

The field count becomes a packing decision.

A grower and packing operation need a shared view of expected volume, timing and container availability.

Separate forecast from committed supply

Record the expected daily melon count, harvest window and how the estimate was made. Mark uncertainty and define when the packing team receives an update. A forecast is not stock already waiting at a collection point.

Confirm the container plan

Use a planned count per container agreed for the actual design and product. Check empty-bin availability, assembly space and the filling process. Keep arithmetic about counts separate from approval of the packing arrangement.

Agree the change signal

Name who updates the count, requests more packaging and confirms the next handoff. Record timing constraints without publishing private access details. The useful plan is one both operations can update.
